About the book: Collage, like life, is an improvisational art form. Living into Art reveals the candid and often profound thoughts of ten artists as they explore the rich and diverse ways in which the practice of collage cultivates their creativity, and spiritually engages their lives. Through a unique and vibrant group studio in Sonoma, California, these individuals are weaving a web of community while also enriching the desire for creative fulfillment.

"Fiber Connections" Recent work by Dawn Wilson At Booklover's Gourmet

    May 1-31, 2008

    Fiber Connections
Recent Work by Dawn Wilson on display at Booklovers' Gourmet, 55 East Main Street, Webster. Meet the artist Sunday, May 18 from 2 to 4 p.m.
    Hours: Tuesday-Friday 10-7 p.m., Saturday 10-5 p.m., Sunday 10-4 p.m. Call 508-949-6232 for more information.

Artist's statement: We all have connections, whether it’s to people, nature or our history. Through the medium of fiber I am exploring what connections I have to my life. Most of the materials I use are recycled or repurposed and recreated into a visual representation of that moment in time. The stories that come out of those materials speak to me internally.

The paper quilt series stems from my love of paper and the salvaging process that goes into collecting it. Today’s society has become such a throw away society that most people don’t even think about what they are throwing away. Working in the print industry I am amazed at how much “unusable” paper is tossed. Being socially conscious it has become my duty to “rescue” these gems out of the recycle bin and find a use for them. The paper quilt series is my accumulation of this collecting process and through the creative process giving the materials a new voice.

A Discovery - From Sid Solomon

    Dear friends,
Beverly Clark made a wonderful discovery, a Catholic

groups of us have been going up there to paint for the
past couple of years. We are going tp have a small
show of the work we have produced at the Express
Yourself Coffee Shop on Pleasnt Street, near the
corner of Richmond Ave during the month of April.

The artists who will be showing work are: Ellie
Beatty, Joan Burbank, Beverly Clark, Sam Lalos, Jean
Murphy, Linda Sinacola and Sid Solomon. We each will be
    showing one painting.

We are going to have an opening reception on Friday,
April 11, from 6pm to 8pm. Free coffee will be
served. Please come by and bring your friends.
